The government is also overhauling how technology is funded and procured. New models are being introduced to shift away from short-term budgets toward sustained funding for multidisciplinary product teams. Key initiatives include the Digital Commercial Centre of Excellence and the National Digital Exchange, both designed to improve technology acquisition and unlock significant savings, with smarter procurement alone projected to save an estimated £1.2 billion annually.
