Distilled Post has unveiled The Healthcare 100, recognising the 100 people and 50 companies shaping the direction of UK healthcare. This year's edition brings together influential leaders, pioneering researchers, healthcare professionals and technology companies whose work is helping to shape the future of the NHS and the wider healthcare sector.
The people recognised span government, NHS leadership, clinical research, digital transformation and patient advocacy. Among them are Sir Jim Mackey, Chief Executive of NHS England; Yvette Cooper, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care; Sir Demis Hassabis, Co-Founder of Google DeepMind; Satya Nadella, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft; and Orlando Agrippa, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sanius Health. Their contributions reflect the many different ways in which leadership, research and innovation influence the delivery of healthcare across the UK.
Alongside the individual recognition, the report features the Top 50 Digital Health Companies, assessed through the Distilled Post Impact Index. The index considers how effectively organisations are addressing some of the NHS's most pressing priorities, from connecting patient records and improving access to care to reducing administrative pressures, strengthening digital infrastructure and demonstrating measurable impact. Microsoft, Epic, Oracle Cerner and Google Cloud lead this year's company rankings.
The edition also examines the developments reshaping the NHS, including the growing adoption of artificial intelligence, the evolution of shared patient records and the changing role of digital healthcare in service delivery. Through case studies featuring DrDoctor, Sanius Health, Doccla and the NHS Federated Data Platform, it explores how technology is being translated into practical applications across healthcare. A further ten companies are highlighted in the Ten to Watch feature, recognising organisations whose work with the NHS is gaining momentum.
The Healthcare 100 2026 goes beyond recognising influence and achievement. It offers a closer look at the people setting the direction, the organisations delivering change and the challenges that will determine how effectively innovation translates into better care for patients and the professionals who serve them.
